Terms & Conditions

At Dance Upon a Dream, we’re all about fun. But we’re also committed to conducting a fair and professional online dancing video database. Before you submit your entry, we need to get some legal stuff out of the way. Please read these terms and conditions, which comprise two sections (i) Database Rules and Eligibility, and (ii) General Conditions of Entry (collectively the ‘Terms and Conditions’), carefully as they govern the relationship between you and us and how the database will be used. By submitting an entry to the database, you agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions. Please ensure that all people involved with your Entry (performers, choreographers, directors etc) have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions. If not all people involved with the entry agree to the Terms and Conditions you must not enter the database.  You acknowledge and agree that the Company reserves the right in its absolute discretion to amend the Terms and Conditions at any time without liability to you. Any decisions made by the Company with respect to the database shall be final.

Promoter: The Database is organised and promoted by Shuhorn Productions Pty Ltd (ACN 155 633 819) trading as Dance Upon a Dream (the ‘Company’).

  • You must Dance and Compete at a 'Competitive Dance Competition' in your country. It can be at a regional or nationals it doesn't matter as long as you are on stage at a competitive competition. For the purposes of this database, “Competitive” means you are a dance student who undertakes four (4) or more hours of dance training per week.
  • Your Entry must be professionally videoed. No Entry will be accepted if it's not at a real live competition and not professionally videoed. We don't want you dancing in your living room or having your routine recorded off an iPhone or hand held camera (remember that the viewers need a clean view of your routine). All competitions these days provide a video service to get your routine videoed and most of them give you an option now to have it in a format where you can upload it easily to websites.
  • The Entry must have been recorded on or after June 1st 2013. People will know if you have been sneaky and uploaded an old video and we don't want to be removing anyone. We want you to dance your best and see how you rank around the world. Anyone caught uploading an old video of themselves or of an old routine you did the previous year will be automatically disqualified.
  • To submit your Entry, you must:
  • upload the video to YouTube.
  • complete and submit the entry form on the Dance Upon a Dream website (including the YouTube link)
  • enter in your correct age division.
  • AGE for the CONTESTANT : must compete in the age group that reflects the age they are in the VIDEO. (Be honest with your age division. Anyone caught uploading an old video of themselves when they were younger or of an old routine you did the previous year will be automatically removed.
  • You may ENTER more than one VIDEO in the same category. For example you have 2 jazz solos you'd like to submit. LIMITED to only two (2) Videos per CATEGORY.
  • To average an age for Duo's Trio's and Groups, add up all the ages of the dancers and divide by the amount of dancers in the group. Drop the decimal point to find the average age.  E.g If the average age of all the dancers in the group adds up to 12.6 then the Entry should be submitted in the 12 yr old age group.
  • Video entries for Groups must be entered by the studio Director or Owner or the choreographer.
  • SOLO - DUO - TRIO entrants under 18 must get permission off parent or guardian to enter their video to the database. ( see Terms and Conditions)

We reserve the right to verify eligibility of all entrants. Illegible and/or incomplete entries and entries submitted by entrants who do not meet the eligibility requirements (including all requirements with respect to age and competitive dance competitions) are void.

Dance routines cannot exceed the following time limits:

  • Solos, Duos, Trios - 3 minutes
  • Groups - 4 minutes
  • Productions - 8 minuets
